About Us

Equine Legal Solutions (ELS) is a leading equine law firm located in the United States. For all breeds and disciplines, we offer dispute resolution, contract law and incorporation of all types of horse related businesses.  What makes ELS different is that our attorneys are not just horse attorneys, they are horse people too.

Being a highly effective equine lawyer requires vast horse knowledge and experience as well as legal acumen.  All of our equine attorneys own horses, ride, and on occasion show in regional and national events.  Once you get to know ELS, we believe you’ll agree that our friendly customer service, horse knowledge and strong understanding of horse related legal issues sets us apart from other horse law firms.

Free Legal Consultations
At Equine Legal Solutions, initial 15-minute phone consultations about horse related matters are always free.

Free Estimates
Equine Legal Solutions
understands that cost is one of the most important considerations in hiring legal counsel. Standard horse related forms, agreements and contracts are available for download at a fixed price.  For other legal services, such as customized contracts, dispute resolution and advice on reducing liability, Equine Legal Solutions charges an hourly rate. Estimates gladly provided upon request. If you would like an estimate, please schedule a free consultation

Preventing Problems
Equine Legal Solutions advocates a belt-and-suspenders approach to risk management: minimize potential liability by putting robust contracts and safety procedures in place, then insure against the remaining risks. As an in-house lawyer for a Fortune 100 company, Rachel Kosmal McCart, Equine Legal Solutions’ founder, acquired a wealth of experience in helping clients prevent legal problems, and she leverages this experience to provide her clients with practical advice... Legal Counsel with Horse Sense™. To help clients keep abreast of industry trends, Equine Legal Solutions publishes The Legal Equine™, a free quarterly email newsletter reporting on the practical implications of current horse related legal developments.

Resolving Disputes
Equine Legal Solutions recognizes that even with the best planning, horse related disputes and legal issues will inevitably arise. For these situations, Equine Legal Solutions provides expert counseling and mediation services directed at resolving the dispute as quickly and inexpensively as possible. “We consider it a loss when clients are forced to litigate,” Rachel says. “It’s almost always more expensive and time-consuming to pursue a lawsuit than it is to work out an agreement among the parties.”

Incorporating Your Business
When you are operating a horse related business (boarding stable, breeding, training, etc.), which is a relatively high-risk business, you can’t afford not to incorporate. Creating a corporation or limited liability company for your business is typically less than $2,000, and it can help protect your personal assets from the business’ liabilities. Equine Legal Solutions offers incorporation for a fixed price – just contact us for details.
